Employer Verification & Job Listing Safety
ROOF JOBS · Policies
A job listing is an invitation to investigate an opportunity. Publication on Roof Jobs should not be treated as a guarantee of an employer or offer.
What a listing does not prove
A published advertisement is not proof that Roof Jobs has completed a background check, license audit or independent inspection of the employer’s workplace. This page does not claim a universal verification badge or guarantee. Evaluate the hiring identity and the specific offer before sharing sensitive information or committing to work.
A reader’s verification checklist
- Find the company’s official website independently and compare its name, location and recruiting contact with the ad.
- Look for the role on the company’s careers page, or call a publicly listed business number to confirm the recruiting contact.
- Check the relevant licensing authority where a contractor authorization is applicable; distinguish the business requirement from an employee qualification.
- Ask for the role, pay structure, reporting location and schedule in writing.
- Pause if the contact asks you to send money, buy gift cards or return funds from a check.
The FTC documents job-scam patterns involving payment and fake recruiting. A legitimate company name can be impersonated; a matching logo alone is weak evidence.
How to report a specific concern
Send the listing URL, the claimed employer/contact, the inconsistent detail and any public source through Contact. Redact personal documents and unrelated private information. Describe what happened rather than making an unsupported public accusation.
Example report: “This posting links to a recruiting address that differs from the company’s official careers page. The company’s published phone contact told me the role is not theirs. Here are the two URLs and the date checked.” A report prompts review; it is not itself proof of wrongdoing.
Verify before sharing sensitive information
Check the employer’s official website and independently confirm the recruiter’s contact details. Be cautious about a conversation that immediately moves to an unfamiliar messaging account or requests money before an interview. Keep early applications focused on relevant work history and contact information.
Check the terms
- Confirm the company name, work location, and person supervising the role.
- Get compensation, employment status, and duties in writing.
- Ask how hiring documents will be collected securely.
- Do not purchase gift cards or forward money as part of a hiring process.
Report a concern
Use the Roof Jobs contact page to flag a suspicious or inaccurate listing. Include its URL, the employer name, and a concise description of the concern. Do not send passwords, banking information, or identity documents with your report.
What a listing does—and does not—confirm
A published advertisement does not establish that a contractor is licensed for a particular jurisdiction, that a recruiter is authorized to represent it, or that every term has been independently checked. Verify any required contractor license with the relevant state or local authority, using the legal business name rather than a similar trade name.
Use the contact route below to report a concern; do not send money or identity documents to prove that a listing is suspicious.
